Toplumsal hafıza, geçmişten öğrenerek geleceği inşa etmenin en güçlü yollarından biridir. 6 Şubat 2023 tarihinde Türkiye’de yaşanan büyük depremler, binlerce insanın hayatını derinden etkiledi. Hafıza Pavillion, bu felaketi unutmamak ve kolektif hafızada kalıcı bir iz bırakmak amacıyla tasarlanmış bir anma ve farkındalık mekânı olarak kurgulandı. Aynı zamanda, güçlü sembolizmi ve yalın mimari diliyle bir landmark olarak, bulunduğu çevrede anlamlı bir odak noktası oluşturmayı hedefliyor. Hafıza Pavillion, depremin gerçekleştiği 11 şehri temsilen farklı doku ve desenlerde seçilen doğal taş sütunlarla taşınan bir üst örtüye sahiptir. Bu taşlar yalnızca yapıyı taşıyan strüktürel elemanlar değil, aynı zamanda her biri ait olduğu kentin yaşadığı yıkımı ve dayanıklılığını simgeleyen hafıza taşıyıcılarıdır. Doğal taşlar, geçmişle gelecek arasında fiziksel bir bağ kurarak, mekâna bir kimlik kazandırır. Pavillion’un formu bilinçli bir sadelikle ele alınmış, karmaşıklıktan kaçınılarak mekânın ruhuna ve atmosferine odaklanılmıştır. Anıt niteliği taşıyan, düşündüren, hissedilen ve deneyimlenen bir mekân yaratmak hedeflenmiştir. Hafıza Pavillion, bir anma mekânı olmanın ötesinde, geleceğe dair bir farkındalık noktası oluşturmayı amaçlar. Unutmamanın yalnızca yas tutmak değil, bilinçlenmek, önlem almak ve daha sağlam bir gelecek inşa etmek anlamına geldiğini hatırlatan bir mekân olarak varlık gösterir.

Social memory is one of the most powerful ways to build the future by learning from the past. On February 6, 2023, massive earthquakes struck Turkey, deeply affecting the lives of thousands of people. Hafıza Pavilion has been designed as a place of remembrance and awareness in order not to forget this disaster and to leave a permanent mark in the collective memory. At the same time, with its strong symbolism and simple architectural language, it aims to create a meaningful focal point in its surroundings as a landmark. Hafıza Pavilion has an upper roof supported by columns of natural stone, selected in different textures and patterns to represent the 11 cities where the earthquake occurred. These stones are not only structural elements that support the building, but also bearers of memory, each symbolizing the destruction and resilience of the city to which it belongs. Natural stone creates a physical link between the past and the future, giving the space an identity. The form of the pavilion has been treated with deliberate simplicity, avoiding complexity and focusing on the spirit and atmosphere of the space. The aim is to create a monumental, thought-provoking space to be felt and experienced. Beyond being a place of remembrance, Hafıza Pavilion aims to create a point of awareness for the future. It exists as a place that reminds us that remembering is not only about mourning, but also about being aware, taking precautions, and building a stronger future.
